Announcing the incoming PDTG officers for 2021-2022

I am happy to introduce our new PDTG officers for 2021-2022.  We have a great mix of fresh volunteers along with experienced officers to carry the torch forward.  As the solo nominee for each role, each candidate becomes the de facto incoming officer.  The official transfer will happen immediately after the conference in October, with in-person introductions at the PDTG business meeting.  Please join me in congratulating and thanking our new officers!

Chair - Han Zhang

I am honored to join other PDTG officers to continue to serve our members. During the challenging time of the pandemic, many things have been changed to online. While the situation is challenging, it also provides us the chance to get connected and work together remotely while saving the time of traveling. We will ensure the TG activities run smoothly in the upcoming HFES virtual meeting. In the meantime, we can propose activities that help with TG members' networking such as online sharing, seminars and remote social gatherings. We can also utilize social media to broadcast design related information/knowledge and sharing activities to improve the visibility of the PDTG, to HFES members and the public.

A short self intro-- I have dedicated my career to human factors design and research. Currently I am the Tech lead of human factors at Cisco, working on enterprise wearables and conferencing devices. Previously, I was a human factors researcher at Amazon, designed and led the HF research for multiple versions of Echo Frames. At my spare time, I love spending time with my young son, hiking and swimming.

Program Chair Elect - Denny Yu
Denny Yu is currently an Assistant Professor of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University, Certified Professional Ergonomist (CPE),  Adjunct Assistant Professor of Surgery at Indiana University School of Medicine, and a Summer Faculty Fellow at the Air Force 711th Human Performance Wing. A member of HFES since 2011 and the Communications Director for the PDTG 2018-Present, he hopes to serve as program chair elect, leveraging HFES communities, social media, and special sessions on emerging product design challenges to increase awareness and proposal submissions to PDTG.

Paul Ritchie served as Program Chair Elect this year, and will be taking over as full program chair in 2021.

Communications chair - Katie Tippey
Katie Tippey is a project manager and researcher for the Connected Health Applications & Interventions (CHAI) Core at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill.  She works closely with researchers to develop digital intervention tools to use in randomized controlled trials and is an active part of the product development and innovation community on the UNC campus. Katie is currently serving as the 2020 PDTG Program Chair.
